Key CR Successes
About Mace
The last year has been a seminal one for Mace Group in structuring our approach and creating wider understanding of the corporate responsibility agenda. Since late 2006 we have:
- Established a CR Strategy Group chaired by Mace CEO, Stephen Pycroft
- Become corporate members of Business in the Community (BITC)
- Launched our CR policy across the Mace Group
- Set key performance indicators and corporate targets for 2010 (see individual sections)
- Undertaken a pilot study to assess the carbon footprint of four of our UK offices (London, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh)
- Committed to reduce our carbon footprint per capita by 10%, and to reduce water consumption by 5% by 2010 across these four locations
- Created a new working partnership with Ethos Recycling Limited, a company with an unrivalled reputation in the UK recycling market. Where current levels of recycling from Mace site waste is estimated to be between 40-45%, Ethos has committed to doubling that figure to 88%.
- Revised our employment terms and conditions. Consequently working hours have been reduced to 36.5 hours per week and pension contributions increased. Maternity and paternity leave allowances have also been increased.
- Opened the Mace Business School, offering our suppliers a wide range of training services and solutions which will fulfil their needs to deliver value and improve performance.
- Increased our charitable donations from £18k in 2005 to over £50k in 2006. Our 2007 activities will see us increase the amount of charitable donations we make further.
- Re-instigated the company Give As You Earn scheme. The no of staff signed up has increased 17 fold on the numbers participating in 2006 and is now raising well over £25,000 a year in charitable donations
- Established a Mace Charity Committee to formalise our charitable giving activities
