Tropical paradise
Mace has been commissioned by client Tatorio Holdings as project manager for its Corniche Bay development, a Foster & Partners designed Intergrated Resort Scheme (IRS).
Corniche Bay is situated on the idyllic tropical island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, renowned for its white sandy beaches and clear seas. Recently introduced by the Mauritius government, the IRS programmes allows non-Mauritians to own property (and obtain residency) for the first time. The client and project team have developed a unique, upmarket development to target an exclusive market.
The project scope comprises all infrastructure works including six kilometres of primary and secondary roads and all services to support the development including a sewage treatment plant, back-up power generator and a desalination plant to compensate for the island's water shortage. In addition to a 5-star Banyan Tree operated hotel with a 1,500m2 spa and wellness centre, there will also be 114 luxury villas constructed in three phases and ranging in size from 403m2 to 712m2, each occupying a plot between 3,000 and 4,000m2. The villa roofs are a signature feature with all columns, structural beams, rafters and slats constructed from timber and designed to resemble waves. Built in a west-facing location, all villas enjoy views of stunning sunsets over the lagoon and La Morne mountain. The development will also feature a Gary Player designed 9-hole golf course.
